Overview
Join us in Japan for a five-day string workshop combining high-level musical learning with cultural immersion. The program features intensive workshops and a performance opportunity, with families free to arrange their own travel and accommodation.

Who Can Join: Violinists & violists, ages 10+, AMEB Grade 5 or higher.
Parents/guardians accompany their child outside workshop hours.
Families arrange their own flights, accommodation, and meals, providing freedom to choose travel styles and budgets.
We organise the structured components, including:
Music workshops with Japanese instructors (Taro Uemura and Hasegawa-sensei).
Ensemble rehearsals and performance opportunities.
Group sightseeing activities (optional).

Workshop Presenters
Violin Lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai), Taro helps students connect both emotionally and intellectually with their music. With a deep understanding of musical expression and discipline, he guides young musicians to play with intention, develop their unique artistic voice, and experience the joy of meaningful performance.
Taro Uemura
Satoshi Hasegawa is a wellness coach who works closely with musicians to support healthy, sustainable playing. His sessions focus on connecting the body, mind, and music, helping students release tension, prevent injury, and find deeper fulfilment in their performance. He encourages students to think beyond the notes and reflect on what music means to them and their audience.

Julia Hill, originally from Hervey Bay, is currently completing her Master’s degree at Tokyo University of the Arts. With undergraduate studies in Queensland and extensive experience in Japan’s vibrant professional music scene, she brings a unique perspective on learning and is able to confidently support communication through her excellent Japanese language and translation skills.
